Marques And ALGOP Chairman Take Figures's Record To Trump's Mobile Stage

MARQUES TELLS TRUMP'S MOBILE CROWD: FIGURES CAVES

On Friday, October 2, President Donald Trump held a midterm rally at the Mitchell Center in Mobile. Rhett Marques, the Republican nominee in Alabama's Second District, spoke from the stage ahead of the president.

Marques told the crowd Shomari Figures "caves" whenever the radical left asks. "He caves on protecting our daughters and keeping men out of girls' locker rooms," Marques said. "He caves on keeping dangerous criminal illegal aliens off our streets."

Marques framed the race in stark terms. "In Alabama's Second District, the choice on the ballot truly comes down to two things: Craziness or common sense," he said. "It's that simple."

FIGURES ON TAXES AND TRADING, PER MARQUES

Marques listed Figures's votes on taxes from the rally stage. "He voted against no tax on tips. Against no tax on overtime. He voted to tax your Social Security," Marques said.

He also said Figures "supported your tax dollars to pay for sex change operations for children and medical benefits for illegal aliens."

Alpolitics reported that Marques also criticized Figures for voting against the Stop Insider Trading Act in July.

Marques summed up the congressman's record in one line. "Shomari Figures didn't go to Washington to fight for Alabama," he said. "He just went to be another rubber stamp for the Democrat Socialist Agenda."

BEFORE CONGRESS, A TOP AIDE TO MERRICK GARLAND

Before he ran for Congress, Shomari Figures served as a top aide to Merrick Garland, Joe Biden's attorney general.

Marques told the Mobile crowd that Figures, while working for Garland, "supervised the release of violent murderers and drug traffickers right back into our communities."

ALGOP CHAIRMAN: FIGURES IS NOT ALABAMA'S VOICE

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Scott Stadthagen also spoke at the Mobile rally on Friday, October 2. He said Figures is "not the people of Alabama's voice."

Stadthagen said Figures and Democratic governor nominee Doug Jones draw campaign funds from special interest groups in California, Massachusetts and New York. "They're trying to turn Alabama to be the same liberal-minded states that they are," he said.
